Industries for the Blind Use Lean to Save $337,000 Annually

In late 2004, IES manufacturing specialist Chris McGraw received a call from the NC Department of Commerce requesting that he visit the Asheville location of Industries for the Blind (IFB) to see how they might improve productivity and reduce waste. The result of that phone call has helped this nonprofit save more than $337,000 annually, increasing the number of people they employ and providing more jobs for blind, legally blind, and sighted people in the area.
