40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Site Worker Course
All hazardous waste site workers must have a minimum of 40 hours of training (OSHA 1910.120). This class is for personnel who work at hazardous waste cleanup sites. Topics covered include worker protection procedures, health effects of hazardous materials, personal protective equipment, air monitoring, waste site control, containment and emergencies, and equipment decontamination procedures. Both classroom and hands-on laboratory exercises are used to teach this class. As a part of the class, students will be fitted for an air purifying respirator (ARP), receive practical self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) experience, and work in OSHA levels A, B, and C protective equipment. Students will set up a Site Safety Plan for a mock hazardous waste site.
